Magnet wire is copper wire with a thin layer of insulation, and is used in a variety of applications including transformers, wound coils, motors, solenoids, and instruments. Raw copper is drawn to meet specific size requirements based on the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards. This magnet wire meets the NEMA MW 79-C standard for operating temperature (155°C/311°F) and insulation makeup. The insulation is made from modified polyurethane, and protects the coiled wire from short-circuiting.

    Personally I am cursed. I've never got a roll of 42 single coat poly wire that wasn't horribly tangled or full of weak splices. That said the wire I get from here is my best luck as my first spool was not only packed like fine china but has been snag and tangle free so far. I like you can choose a clear or red color if the coating as with my aging eyes the red is much easier to not only stare at for hours but less painful as well. I use this for humbuckers and the heavy poly for single coils but will wind whatever is asked. Not only is the single build allow you to fit more on a bobbin but when you get up to 5000-10000 wraps on a pick-up the thickness of the wire's coating has a clear impact on a pick-up's tone and shape of the coil and it can matter. 20 out of 10 will order again

    I really like this magnet wire. It spins smoother than other brands Ive used. It lets me speed up or slow down without any problem with the feed.
