Marine Wire
Our marine wire and cable is made of tinned copper and can be used in a variety of boat power circuit and control applications. Many of the marine-grade wire spools in this selection conform to specifications issued by UL, SAE, USCG, and others.
What is Marine Wire?
Marine grade wire is a special electrical wire for use in boats. It can withstand water, salt, vibrations, and temperature changes. It’s made of tinned copper and coated with PVC to prevent corrosion.
Types of Marine Grade Wire Available
At Remington Industries, we offer various types of marine grade wire. The tinned copper wire in this category is suitable for various boat electrical needs.
GPT Marine Wire – 60 Volt: This wire is rated for 60V and 80°C in wet conditions. It comes in sizes from 0.117" to 0.092" (14-18 AWG) and is used for lighting, radios, and other electrical parts on boats, providing durability and flexibility. GPT Marine Wire is also known as GPTM or UL1426.
Marine – PVC – 600 Volt: This popular boat wire is strong, affordable, and resistant to tough conditions. It is used in power, lighting, control, and communication systems, including marine duplex cable, tinned battery cable, and submersible pump cable.
Battery Cable: Used to connect batteries to electrical parts, battery cable ensures reliable power in marine environments.
Jumper Wire / Cut and Stripped Wire: Already cut and stripped for use, this marine wire is perfect for quick connections, repairs, and modifications inside a boat's electrical system. It’s the perfect solution to marine wiring, without the hassle.
Boat Wire Kits and Spools
When deciding whether to purchase your marine grade wire in spools or boat wire kits, consider the scope of your project. If you’re working on a big project where you know you need many spools of the same gauge, boat wiring kits can keep you stocked up. If you need to buy specific colors and gauges, you may wish to purchase individual spools.

Marine Wire FAQs
Find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our marine wire.
What gauge wire should I choose for marine electronics?
The best marine wire gauge depends on the device's need for current and its length. Boat wiring usually requires 16 AWG at a minimum, but lower AWGs might be needed if the current is higher or if the wire run will be longer.
Is there a difference between marine wire and regular wire?
Yes, Marine grade wire is usually made of copper or similar metals and coated with tin to prevent oxidation. Tinned copper wire is therefore an excellent choice; bare copper will oxidize (especially in salt air), and the tin coating helps prevent that from happening.
What wire is best for marine use?
Tinned copper wire is a good choice for marine electrical systems because it can withstand harsh conditions, salt air, and moisture.
