This copper wire is coated with a thin layer of insulation. This insulation is made from modified polyester, and is protected with a polyamideimide overcoat. With this insulation in place, there is no reason to fear short circuiting. Magnet wire such as this is extremely versatile and therefore perfect for use in a variety of applications, including use in everything from instruments to transformers. Magnet wire can also be found in motors, wound coils and solenoids. This 28 AWG wire meets size requirements based on National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards.
The NEMA MW 35-C standard for operating temperature (200°C/392°F) and insulation makeup is also met by this wire.
